Mother's Day 2012

We spent Mother's Day weekend down in Bluffton this year.

Saturday we went down to the MayFest, had an awesome lunch at The Cottage, then Mom and I went to get massages while the boys went home for a nap.  :)  I really wish I'd have taken some pictures while we were out and about during the day, but I just didn't think of it. That evening we went to walk on the beach, where I did get a few pics with my phone.

Sunday we got up and went to church at Live Oak, where Asher made a card, bookmark, and macaroni necklace for me in Sunday School. Then we went out to lunch with Kelsie & Michel at The Original Pancake House. After that, we just hung out and visited at the house until it was time to go home that evening.

I never would have thought a macaroni necklace that I know Asher didn't even make by himself could make me so happy. I wore it proudly the entire day.  :]

What an awesome weekend it was.

I know it's a hard day for a lot of people too though. I know several people who have already lost their mom, lost their babies, were never able to become a mom, or some combination of those things. For that reason especially, I make a conscious effort not to take any of those things for granted. I'm so so thankful to have such a great mother and still have her around. I'm also incredibly thankful that God not only allowed me to become a mother, but to be a stay-at-home mom as well.

Sure, there are some days I think to myself, "Boy, I could use a break. I just want some time where I don't have anyone else to watch or clean up after." But honestly, there is no other job in the world I'd rather be doing than this.

I'll leave you with a video of my sweet boy. Although spending my days with him is my dream job, it's often not a glamorous one. Happy Mother's Day, right?!

A Long Visit at Grandma's

Asher, Bela, and I drove down and spent the last 11 days at my mom's house in Bluffton. We helped her go through some of the things that needed sorting in her house and got a lot of running around done as well. It was a fun time to visit and get some things done. I should have taken more/ better pictures to document our visit, but here are some that I had on my phone. They're mostly of Asher and the dog, but they're the most fun to look at anyways.  ;)

It feels like half our time at the house was spent either bathing or eating... Both things he loves in general, but especially with Grandma.

Bela spent most of her time with her bone on her pillow in front of the window. Both she and Asher love the low windows at Grandma's house.

At the grocery store. This is his "smile for the camera" face.

Asher and Bela love long walks in the evening down by the May River.

Diaper cake and bag of Babyganics stuff from me and my mom for Courtney's baby shower.  :)

Bela with bows in her hair after getting a professional bath and haircut. (Professional, as in, actually going somewhere rather than me doing it at home.)

Out and about with Mommy and Grandma...

Pretty sky on the way home.

I still have pictures and video I need to put together from the camping trip and wedding, like I said in my last post, but realized that the video card on the desktop is shot and my little video software is not on my laptop yet. I need to find the CD for it so I can get that together!

I'm back... soon!

I'm not even going to try to recap everything that has happened between the last post and now... We've been busy! Just in the last three weeks we've gone camping off the Appalachian Trail, gone to exhibits at the state and art museums here in Columbia, and been down to St. Augustine for Brian & Susana's wedding. I'm going to try to make some little video clips of our trips and get them up here soon.

I've been thinking I'd like to start another separate blog to post yummy recipes, health/ nutrition info, and that sort of stuff, but I'm just not sure if I have time. I don't even keep this one up very well... So we'll see.

Anyways, I'm hoping to have at least one little vacation video up here by the end of this weekend, so stay tuned.  :)
